Silicon Metal is by quartz and coke in electric heating furnace smelted into products, the content of silicon main component elements in 98%, the rest of the impurity of iron, aluminum, calcium. Its main purpose is to be used as an additive for non ferrous alloys. The properties of metallic silicon are similar to that of germanium, lead and tin, which have the properties of semiconductor.Insoluble in acid, soluble in alkali at room temperature.
